What to expect

Therapy should feel safe, connected and empowering. Here’s what working together can look like.

The free consultation

A free, no-pressure 15-minute call, by phone or video. We’ll talk over your goals and needs, what you’re looking for, and options. If it isn’t the best fit, I’ll share referrals and next steps.

The first sessions

We usually talk about what brought you in, some background and practical information, and what you’d like to work on. You’re welcome to bring notes, take your time and ask questions.

What sessions can include

There isn’t one script. Sessions might include conversation, practical support with executive functioning, trauma work such as Brainspotting, mindfulness and self-compassion, parts work, or ideas from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.

Working together

I support your agenda, your goals and your path. We check in along the way about what’s working and what isn’t, and adjust. Homework is optional and the pace is yours.

In person or online

I meet clients at my office in Milwaukee and by video anywhere in Wisconsin and Missouri. You get to decide if virtual or in-person works best for your sessions. More about online therapy.

How often we meet

Everyone has different needs and preferences. It’s usually best to meet weekly or every other week at the beginning. Ultimately the frequency is your choice, and we figure it out together.
